How to Pull Off Rustic Yet Timeless Style at Willow & Oak Estate

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]The main colors of the day were sage green, burgundy, mustard, off-whites and light pinks tones.[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]The venue, Willow & Oak in Creston, CA, was the perfect venue for our design and vision. We wanted a rustic, classy, and elegant reception. This venue had exactly what we were looking for. From the beautiful willow trees, to the pond and the tree house, the venue fit our vision perfectly. We were able to utilize a few different locations at the venue that provided an experience for our guests. The guests started at the ceremony site, moved to the cocktail hour location and then on to the reception. The table layout of the reception was perfect. We used both rectangle and circle shaped tables to break up the tables and utilize the space in a creative way. We opted for assigned tables, rather than assigned seats. This allowed for some flexibility for our guests to choose a seat, but also kept the tables organized. Lovelyfest designed a beautiful seating chart with engraved walnut wood, leather and suede cording that aligned with our design.[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]Our families have known each other for quite a while, which is funny that Joey and I had never crossed paths. Also looking back, we had tons of mutual friends, but never had met each other. We officially met at a Cody Johnson concert at Madonna Inn. We went with a big group of mutual friends. Joey asked me to swing dance and the rest is history![/field]

[section title=”The Fashion”]
[field title=”Wedding Gown”]I got my dress at Moondance Bridal in San Luis Obispo. I had the best experience there. I ended up choosing the first dress I tried on at there. My dress had lace detail on straps, neckline, and train with an open back.  The dress was fitted above my knee and had the coolest bustle! When bustled you could still see all the lace and beaded detail on the train. Shout out to Ginger Behnke for doing an amazing job altering and creating the bustle on my dress.

My boots came from Freebird. They were pointy toe cowboy boot with a grey/blue whitewash. We also used our “KJ” brand to brand the side of the boots and the bottom sole. It was so cool!

I also wore a simple diamond necklace with a gold chain that Joey got me as a wedding gift. This was my something new.  My something borrowed was a pearl necklace from my aunt and my something blue was a blue belt buckle ring my mom gave to me.[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”] Each of my bridesmaids wore a different color and style of dress. I used colors in the same palette as the wedding and reception. The girls wore copper, olive, sage green, burgundy, soft pinks, and champagne. I spent a lot of time trying to come up with the “perfect” color combination. Eventually I picked general colors and let the girls ultimately decide. The colors turned out amazing together. From the beginning I wanted girls to pick a dress and a style they were comfortable in. I was so happy with how it turned out![/field]
[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]The groomsmen and groom wore black suits with a black tie. No hats until after the ceremony. Then most of the boys opted for a black cowboy hat.[/field]

[section title=”The Details”]
[field title=”Food & Drink”]The food was amazing! We used Dave Auten from Auten Boys BBQ and Catering. They barbecued filet mignon and chicken and also served the most unreal green beans, garlic mashed potatoes, and ranch type beans. We served dinner buffet style.

During cocktail hour we had a beautiful charcuterie board prepared by Farm and Harvest.

For drinks we had an assortment of beers, wine and a few specialty cocktails. We used the bar service, Copper and Crystal, they did an amazing job keeping lines short and serving beautiful fun cocktails.

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]The florals were unreal! We had so many flowers on the tables and around the reception area. Kellye with Precious and Blooming did an incredible job. For the reception I had a vision for tall centerpieces on the long tables. She made the vision come to life and they looked so beautiful.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]We had a simple two-tier cake from Bri’s Sweet Retreat. The cake cutting was done in a semi-private setting. We did not want to stop the reception to cut cake in front of all our guests. Instead, we had our immediate family witness the cutting of the cake and provided various flavors of cupcakes and lemon bars as dessert.[/field]

[field title=”Special Detail #1″]My aunt and uncle came and saw me right before I walked down the aisle. There is a tradition that I did not know about that involved three pennies. My aunt came to give me the three pennies and put them in my boot for good luck. She gave me a 2023 penny for the year we got married, a penny for the year Joey was born and a penny for the year I was born. My penny, 1995, was the penny her grandpa (my great grandpa) gave her on her wedding day in 1995. It was very special!

[field title=”Special Detail #2″]Waking up in the morning before the wedding and seeing all the chairs lined up at the ceremony site. In that moment it became very real that all those seats would be filled in a matter of hours, by people we love and who are there to celebrate with us. It was amazing standing up at the main house looking down at the ceremony site throughout the day. Especially when guests began to arrive. Also, my dad and I got to watch the beginning of the ceremony from that spot. We could see everything, but the guests could not see us. It was surreal.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]When Joey and I turned to face the guests and walked out of the ceremony site after being introduced as married for the first time. It was emotional for both of us, and we were so excited. I still remember Keith Urban “Somebody Like You” playing in the background. At that moment we both looked at each other like “we did it!”[/field]
