Repurposing Ideas for Outdated Furniture

Sometimes, when home decor trends and styles have passed byeven furniture can become outdated and out of style after a while. For instance, it’s very easy to find old china cabinets on Facebook Marketplace for next to nothing or almost free. People tend to not buy fancy china anymore or even use separate dining rooms anymore. Much of that furntiure is still good, but it really needs a second life! Here are a few repurposing ideas for outdated furniture that might help spark the idea for the new life into an old piece you own.

Dining room buffets used to be strictly for holding china a servingware for the holidays and family get-togethers. Now they can have a second life as a main focal point in the kitchen being used everyday. Have a top cut out of stone for everyday use and let it add character to your home.

A smaller buffet can also be repurposed as a bathroom vanity. With a sink placed on top, it’s perfect for those smaller rooms where  you want affordable storage and a statement piece.

Remove the top of the hutch off of a Mid-century dining set to make an ideal media cabinet with lots of storage underneath.Keep some of the wood and just add a touch of paint to accentuate the architectural features.

Nightstands or bedroom side tables work perfectly for repurposing as small entryway cabinets. They are the perfect size for your keys, gloves and umbrellas, or anything else you want to store near the front door.

Turn a china cabinet into a display case

Another use for an old china cabinet is to take the doors off the use the inside as display or a bookshelf. This cabinet has had many many lives!  Right now it lives in my retail store as display for candles and other goods.
