Sardinia (or Sardegna as the Italians spell it) is on the brink of becoming a major leisure travel hotspot!

Nestled between North Italy and North Africa in the Mediterranean Sea, this captivating island is a haven for nature enthusiasts and cultural explorers. The glistening waters surrounding the island teem with schools of silvery sardines, creating a mesmerizing sight against the azure backdrop.

Home to the proud and ancient Sardinian communities, this diverse landscape boasts an abundance of natural wonders, including national reserves, imposing mountains like the Supramonte, intricate cave networks, verdant swamps, and protected sand dunes. As if the marine life weren’t enough, the region also offers sightings of majestic whales, playful dolphins, elegant flamingoes, diminutive horses, and even rare albino donkeys.

Embracing its pastoral heritage, Sardinia is a land of shepherds, where the number of sheep surpasses that of its human residents. While the island has long been a sought-after summer destination for affluent Italians, it often needs to be more appreciated for its inland treasures, offering a wealth of authentic experiences beyond its renowned emerald coastline.

Sardinia has always been a summer destination for wealthy Italians. However, tourists often equate it solely with its beautiful and famous emerald coastline.

Today, a new era of luxury hospitality is emerging on the island, with prestigious names such as Belmond and Rocco Forte reshaping the island’s perception and visitor experience.
