Step 1 – Rinse The Rice

Place the simmering basket into the Thermomix machine.

Pour the boiling water into the Thermomix bowl until it sits 1cm above the rice.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT at any time exceed the MAX line. This is especially important with the TM31 model as the bowl is slightly smaller.

Step 3 – Cook The Rice

Cook the rice for 25 minutes and then check to see if it’s cooked to your liking.

IMPORTANT: when cooking the rice, ensure the MC is removed (this is for safety reasons).

If you’d like the rice cooked a little more, simply continue cooking for a further 5 minutes.

Expert Tips

  • Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear – this removes the start and stops your rice from being gluggy.
  • You will need approximately 1-1.25 litres of boiling water. Keep adding water until it’s 1cm above the rice.
  • Do NOT at any stage exceed the MAX line – this is particularly important for TM31 models as the bowl is slightly smaller.
  • Cook the rice with the MC off – this is for safety reasons when cooking at high temperatures.
  • Cook the rice for 25 minutes and then test it. Cook for a further 5 minutes for a softer rice.
  • Fluff the rice with a fork and serve immediately.
  • Be very careful when removing the simmering basket from the Thermomix machine after the rice has cooked as it will be very hot. Use the spatula to hook into the simmering basket and very carefully remove it.
  • Store leftover rice in an airtight container in the fridge for 1 day.

FAQS

What is the MAX line?

This is a line on the inside of the Thermomix bowl that tells you the very maximum limit that you can fill the bowl up to (for safety reasons).
Please note that if you have a TM31 model, your bowl will be smaller, so you’ll need to be extra careful not to exceed this line.

What is the MC?

The MC refers to the measuring cup that sits in the hole in the Thermomix lid. It’s important to remove the MC when cooking at high temperatures (for safety reasons).
