What’s New in Tile for 2024

Color has been tiptoeing back to the tile scene for the last few years and now seems to be reaching a crescendo, with bold and saturated hues in a variety of shapes and sizes. These were highlighted in the new tile collections on display at The International Surface Event 2024 trade show, held recently in Las Vegas. For the less adventurous, the displays also held plenty of more subtle offerings in warm neutrals, grays and blacks, in ever-evolving shapes and patterns.

Many of the displays were dominated by natural and engineered stone looks, especially marble, which continues to make a big statement in tile and slabs. The imperfect, glossy, handcrafted zellige-style look is still going strong, but perhaps with a bit less bling than in the last few years. “We’ve seen a move to more color and using color as a design element, but in addition to that we’re seeing a lot of interest in mixed materials,” Kathy Greene of Emser Tile says.

Here are highlights from the Jan. 23-26 trade show for the tile, stone and floor coverings industries. The new tile collections will be rolling out throughout 2024, with some products becoming available later in the year.
