A Burst of Bright Colors in Paradise at the Andaz Maui in Wailea

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]I wanted blue to be the main color with the florals being extremely colorful.[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]I would say my design started with my Save the Date being a postcard design. I wanted to embrace the laid back, colorful, happy and upbeat Maui vibe that is so special to us. I wanted cane & natural wood used throughout. I wanted live music during the ceremony and Marvin Tevaga was incredible! I wanted a lot of romantic candles, tiki torches. My original look I wanted was Trader Vics meets romance. I ordered a lot of decor from small businesses – cane table numers, cane wrapped candle holders, etc. [/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]Matt planned the most amazing weekend and I was under the impression we were going wine tasting for just one day with Matt’s family. We had an Italy trip planned in June and I was convinced it would be there so I was SO surprised when it happened 2 months before the trip in Napa. He proposed in the most amazing cave at a winery just the two of us and after both our families were there and we wine tasted, had an amazing private lunch in a vineyard and dinner and spent the weekend celebrating both with our families and a day alone![/field]

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]I wanted something lightweight, simple, romantic, and something that made me feel like me. I tried on a lot, and ended up having my dress custom made so I can remove the arm bands for dancing. [/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]I wanted my bridesmaids to find a dress that they felt comfortable & beautiful in. I asked them for varying shades of light blue, and a mix of solid and floral prints. I loved the way it turned out, and everyone was so happy getting to choose something they loved. I had asked Sandra a million questions before – I was nervous but trusted the process lol. I put together a inspiration deck and referenced a bunch of various dresses. I wanted a mix of texture – silk, linen, etc. Becuase each girl had a different dress, I asked Dellables for each bridesmaid to only have one singular flower type in their bouquet and to only use white flowers. I think it was a great balance of color and really looked nice. [/field]

[field title=”Food & Drink”]We had family travel far, and we wanted the entire weekend to feel like a vacation for our friends and family. We have a large food-loving family, and we wanted everyone to be full and for the drinks to be flowing!! We had Catered Coconut serve fresh coconut water during the ceremony to hydrate before plenty of Mai Tais at the reception. We both love Chi Chis (they are our favorite, and had those during our rehearsal dinner as well). We had signage on the bar calling it “Ralphie’s bar” in homage to our sweet dog, Ralphie whom we love dearly! [/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Virginia Brown Art did all of our paper goods, bar signage and menus. She even designed our favors – matchboxes that matched our save the dates, included a beautiful map of Maui & included our dog Ralphie. My grandfather collected matchboxes everywhere he traveled and I still have his matchboxes and it is such a special thing for us. It was so fun to design the matchboxes and also honor my grandfather. Dellables did an incredible job with the florals – I had explained my vision of the half moon at the ceremony and sent photos and she brought my dream to life. She did such a beautiful job with the flowers – we also used her florals for our rehearsal dinner and welcome party which was so special. We have 6 neices and nephews and I brought a wooden white wagon on to the plane so all 6 children can be a part of our wedding as flower girls and ring bearers and it was so special to get to watch all 6 kids go down the aisle. 🙂 [/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]In Lieu of a cake we just served a chocolate dessert as we both love chocolate![/field]
